Turkey hunters have always expected the most authentic natural sounds from their calls, so we partnered with award winning competitive caller and call builder Steve Morgenstern to bring you this signature small batch pot call.

While building these small batch pot calls, no shortcuts were taken. Steve painstakingly assembled each call in his Kirksville Missouri shop, assuring the kind of quality that he proudly puts his name on. We asked Steve for some advice on sourcing materials to build a strong and stable call that plays like no other aluminum pot you’ve ever heard. He said “hands down we have to go with the consistent, hard, and durable Osage Orange, to hold the aluminum over slate”.

This call is built with stability in mind to endure dramatic temperature changes and still sound consistently authentic. Steve uses thicker than average aluminum, and assembles the calls one at a time with a proprietary method that he has developed building custom calls for nearly 18 years. Paired with a laminated wood striker, the sounds from these small batch calls are sure to bring in the wisest old gobbler.

What does "Small Batch" mean exactly? While other call companies are looking to cut costs by sourcing cheaper materials and moving mass production overseas, here at Phelps we are doubling down on American craftsmanship. Our shop in Northeastern Washington is machining these pots and owl hooters to the exact tolerances of master call makers Steve Morgenstern and James Harrison. Steve and James then assemble each call and run quality control checks in their respective Missouri shops before they send them off for the Phelps team to package and distribute. The result? Custom call quality that we are able to provide to a larger group than Steve and James can accomplish by turning just one pot at a time. Try one today and see the craftsmanship built into each of these "Small Batch" calls.
